Nowadays, you can get professional emails with your domain purchase or hosting account itself. But People often prefer to choose gmail hosting for their business because of some advantages such as cloud-based, mobile-friendly app, spam protection, cross-platform compatibility, user-friendly design, etc. But Gmail account for professional email is quiet costlier for small businesses and startup companies. So Today I wanted to explain how you can setup the free Email account you got with hosting account or domain control panel in the gmail environment as your professional email.
There are two ways for setting up your personal gmail account for accessing professional email addresses. If I explain it further, You may have firstname.lastname@example.org as personal email and xxxxx@<domain-name>.com as your professional email. Now you have two choices for doing it.
- Download Your Professional Email to Gmail Inbox automatically
- Forward each email to Gmail Inbox
1. Download Your Professional Email to Gmail Inbox automatically
Open ‘Settings’ from your Gmail account top right corner settings icon drop down.
Go to ‘Account and Import’ tab .
Click on Check mail from other Accounts
Select ‘Add a mail account’ . Pop up will open. Enter your professional email address (for example, xxxx@<domain-name>.com)
Usually you will login to your professional email account using www.<domain-name>.com/webmail , You will have username and password with you suppose if you have registered email account from your domain/hosting control panel. If you lost password or can’t recover it, ask your hosting provider for support.
Now go to Next Step in that pop up box and enter your password, then select Add ‘Account’. Now You have added your professional email account to your personal gmail. Now your Gmail will search the added email address periodically! You are DONE!
2. Forward each email to Gmail Inbox
We have another simple option instead of checking email periodically from Gmail, We may forward each mail directly from your professional email itself.
Login to your email account using www.<domain-name>.com/webmail or mail.<domain-name>.com
Check top right corner of the mail box for ‘forwarders’ option. Select it.
Now You will have an option like ‘Add forwarder’, select it.
then You will get something like this.
Under Forward to Email Address, Enter Your personal Gmail address. Now You will receive each mail at the time of your professional email address receive a single mail from your customers into your Gmail Inbox. Now You are all set in receiving mails.
So far we have discussed only about receiving incoming mails to your gmail inbox. So what about sending Emails? yes, We have option for that also.
Again Go to settings, Under ‘Account and import’ tab you will find Send mail as option.
In the Above pop up Enter your name and professional email address(ex. email@example.com). Go to Next step.
Now you get the above box, Add your domain name in the SMTP server box, leave port as it is. Add Your Email Username and Password as above. Select ‘Add Account’ . Then it will ask for email conformation, confirm it. Now you have set down everything. Below ‘Add another email address’ inGmail Settings, you will see added email address and there will be option for ‘MAKE DEFAULT’. you may select it.
However, While composing each mail right side of your FROM address a drop down icon will be there, with which you can choose from which email address you want to send each email.
